Athenia Street Fair

This year's Athenia Street Fair was held on a cloudy day - in the morning, at least - so we decided to go straight for the park and check out the rides.

Unfortunately, the rides had height restrictions so there wasn't anything for Swe-cha, except for the little train. We looked around for the ticket booth but couldn't find it... that explains why the train has been standing idle for a long time when we saw it. The driver couldn't tell us where to get tickets either, he said "I just drive the train, sorry."

We wanted to go to the petting zoo but Swe-cha had other ideas. He wanted to climb the play gym, he was too little for some of the sections and the bars were set to wide apart for toddlers so Mommy had to climb up with him.

We had to pull him off the slides at one point because there were so many bees flying around. I don't really know why.

Eventually, he started playing with the mulch and inserting them one by one into the little homes on the steps of the play gym (he does with at all the playgrounds!).

When we saw him doing this, we knew it was time to go. This little guy could sit there all day just doing this.

So we carried him off...

... and met with a friendly Chinese lion, there was a local martial-arts school group doing a lion dance.

Swe-cha was dedma. He looked but he wasn't really interested.

He wanted to run around and explore, it was getting harder and harder to carry him and hold onto him so we just let him go and we followed him wherever he went.

He checked out some cars in the parking lot - there were a few restored vintage/show cars.

He also kept ducking into alleys and sidestreets, hay! We had to chase him and bring him back to the main street all the time but it was worth it to see him so happy.

He would run and raise his arms and shout out loud :)

He was so interested in all the things that he was seeing.

Before we went home, we stopped at a shop for Mommy's requesite funnel cake. Swe-cha had a taste and was hooked too (may kahati na si Mommy!).
