Training Summary

It's been a month since we first decided to train Swe-cha and here's a summary of what we've achieved so far:

  • Bottles: We've completely switched to using the Playtex Ventaire (wide) at home and the Playtex Drop-ins system when going out. We're travel-ready!
  • Night feeding: We've cut down on the snacking throughout the night and are down to a single feeding (3am). We're happy to note that this has not affected his overall milk consumption aversely and in fact, his milk-intake is even better on some days (27+oz per day instead of his usual 22oz). There are still times when he would wake up but more often than not, he would fall asleep by himself w/o the need for a bottle.
  • Sleep-association: We've taken out his need for using the bottle as a pacifier. There are still days when he still asks for the bottle but he will usually refuse it just before sleeping. Now, he just nurses on the bottle when he's hungry.
We're waiting for his sleep to stabilize at night (i.e. for him to sleep through with the exception of the 3a feeding) before we start taking out his 3a feeding. In the meantime, we've started going longer in between feedings during the day, 4 hrs instead of 3, and this is going good so far. His minimum milk intake is now at 3oz and he would drink at least 5 oz in the afternoon, there are even times when he would finish 8 oz. We've graduated to using the 9oz bottles and are finished with the 4 oz ones - something I never thought he'd do.
