Checkup

We saw our pediatrician today and Swe-cha is only at the 50th percentile for his height and a little less than 50th percentile for his weight. I asked the doctor for recommendations (because he does not eat a lot) on what to feed him and she tells me to add a little butter, margarine or olive oil to his food to increase the fat content.

Somehow, that does not sit well with me.

If I think about it, it's not that my son cannot eat more, it's just that he's picky, lazy or perhaps easily distracted during mealtimes. I normally give him 1oz of breastmilk mixed with cereal plus 2oz of pureed vegetable or fruit and he usually stops eating at that point. But sometimes, he would eat as much as 1.5oz of breastmilk mixed with cereal, 2oz of pureed vegetable and another 2 oz of pureed fruit or yogurt as dessert. So this tells me that he can eat more, he just does not want to do that all the time.

Hay! I think I better look for other foods to encourage him to eat. Baka sawa na sa usual.

Swe-cha also had his first dose of the 2010-2011 flu vaccine (preservative free), we have to get a booster shot in a month.

  1. Good thing inaayos mo na sleeping niya. I think being well rested has a lot to do with how much he can eat. It's hard to focus on an activity when you don't get enough sleep diba? I think that's a big reason why the gehls' milk intake is pretty good.
